


PRESIDENT Demetris Christofias departed for Brussels yesterday.
Christofias, who boarded an Austrian Airlines flight from Larnaca, is set to meet the president of the European Commission (EC) Jose Manuel Barroso later this morning, while he will also attend the plenary session of the College of Commissioners at midday.
Six ministers, the state spokesman Stefanos Stefanou and the deputy minister for European affairs Andreas Mavroyiannis also travelled with the president and will also attend the plenum.
The Cypriot delegation and the EC will discuss matters concerning Cyprus’ six-month EU presidency starting this July, while bilateral meetings with relevant commissioners will also take place.
The delegation will return to Cyprus tomorrow afternoon.
