School Children Teleconferences @CSE

Aiming to bring together Greek children from around the world, the Centre for Science Education (CSE) is organizing educational teleconference meetings between local High School students and Diaspora schools. The first teleconference was held at the Patras Science Centre with the Socrates Academy of North Carolina, the 4th Greek-American public charter school.

Following consultation between teachers, the subject chosen for the first conference was headed From Aristotelian Logic to Computer Logic. The view taken was not to provide knowledge, but to let students discover facts for themselves and exchange ideas. The conference was received with much enthusiasm from the students and more conferences followed, in which, along with Greek-American students, American students of other ethnic origin participated.

Since its foundation in 2000, CSE has focused on establishing a European network of Houses of Knowledge and Science, already operating in Patras, Chalkida and Athens, as well as Agde, France, with the House of Science in Pescara, Italy already under way.
