Kambanellis Plays in Farsi

The second volume of plays by Iakovos Kambanellis, one of the most prominent playwright of post-war Greek theatre, is to be published soon in Iran, with an edition of the complete works of Kambanellis to follow.

Having already translated  two one-act plays - Man and his Trousers and Wrong Man and the Woman – for the first volume, Iranian playwright, director and translator Reza Shirmarz has now translated two of Kambanellis’s monologues.

The second volume, Two Modern Greek One-Act Plays: Letter to Orestes and Thebes Sidestreets, is soon to be published by Qatreh Publications. Shirmarz’s next project is the translation of the Complete Plays of Iakovos Kambanellis in Persian. Born in Teheran and living in Greece for the past few years, Shirmarz has previously translated in Persian the complete plays of Aristophanes and Menander, with Aristophanes’ Birds becoming a bestseller in Iran a couple of years ago.
